I was listening to a podcast by CBC Spark and they were talking about big data and small data. I’ve never come across this until now. When I did search I came across your blog. CBC mentioned an alternative small data program to use and I can’t seem to find it: Diaspar? Have you ever heard of it? They talked about it being an alternative to something like FaceBook
Hi Maureen – thanks for the comment and stopping by. I think they were referring to Diaspora – an open social network launched as an alternative to Facebook (lofty goal, eh?) that fell a bit short of its original goal and is now a community platform. See https://joindiaspora.com. As for the small data reference, it was likely from Rufus Pollock who has written recently about the topic here: http://blog.okfn.org/2013/04/22/forget-big-data-small-data-is-the-real-revolution/. Hope this helps!
